This post is sponsored by Barilla® but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

One day, spicy miso noodles and carbonara walked into a bar. They had a star child and that is Barilla® Red Lentil Spaghetti Spicy Miso Pasta. Adding eggs to an Asian-inspired dish is the best thing since sliced bread.

The star of my dish is Barilla® Red Lentil Spaghetti for multiple reasons. For one, it tastes great while providing a good source of protein (23g of protein per 3.5oz serving) and an admirable source of fiber. Barilla® Red Lentil Spaghetti is also a 2021 People Food Award Winner. I like when I can feed my family a wholesome and healthy meal.

Secondly, it’s literally made with one ingredient; red lentil flour. Barilla® leveraged its more than 140 years of expertise to create pasta with one simple ingredient. And it tastes delicious. Like I said; family approved. Barilla® Red Lentil pasta gives me a nutritious way to add variety to our meals, making a great foundation for or addition to a range of dishes, from pasta to salads to soups.

So let’s get down to the recipe.

1 8.8oz (250g) box of Barilla® Red Lentil Spaghetti

2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

4 ounces bacon, thick-cut, diced (you may use turkey bacon or mushrooms but real bacon is truly the best)

3 tablespoons chili garlic sauce (you can find at Kroger)

2 tablespoons light miso paste (I found at the Asian Market but you can order from Amazon or get at a grocery store

)3 eggs

2 ounces Parmesan, finely grated

1 teaspoon black pepper

½ cup scallions, sliced

Instructions for Barilla® Red Lentil Spaghetti Spicy Miso Pasta

Bring a large pot water to a boil. Salt generously. Once boiling, cover and keep on a low heat.

In a large saucepan, heat olive oil oven over medium-high heat. Add the bacon and cook it until it’s nice and crispy (about 9-10 minutes). Remove from the heat.

In a bowl, beat the miso, chili garlic sauce, and water from the pot until you get a nice smooth consistency. I use 2-3 tablespoons). The heat from the boiling water will help to dissolve the miso paste, making it easier to mix with your other ingredients and will help to bind your sauce together.

Add in the egg and whisk. Set aside.

Cook the Barilla® Red Lentil Spaghetti. Reserve about 1/2 cup of pasta water.

Add the Barilla® Red Lentil Spaghetti to the saucepan with the sliced bacon, over medium high heat. Once everything is really hot, turn off heat and add the miso/egg mixture. Give it a quick mix.

Add in the parmesan cheese and pasta water until you like the consistency.

Add pepper and garnish with scallions. Serve

You are ready to taste the most unique, slightly spicy (you can adjust) pasta dish you’ve made in a long time or ever.

Tips for Perfecting the Barilla® Red Lentil Spaghetti Spicy Miso Pasta

If you cook the bacon in oil, you might end up with a lot of oil. Feel free to remove some oil from the pan before you add your other ingredients in. That’s what I do and it prevents the dish from getting too greasy.

You can definitely add proteins on top of a bed of this pasta, such as grilled chicken or fish. Fish and miso are delicious together.

You can find it at your local Kroger. Thank you for the recipe inspiration Cravings!
